These terms govern donations made to Nimistu MTÜ. A donation is voluntary and gives the donor nothing in return.
General
These terms govern donations to Nimistu MTÜ (registry code 80673204, located at Parda tn 8, 10151 Tallinn, Estonia) in support of its work, including via the nimistu.ee website or other channels we provide.
Nimistu MTÜ is a non-profit whose purpose is to serve the public interest — making Estonian public-register data accessible to journalists, researchers, civil-society organisations and the general public. Its activity is funded through donations, grants and earmarked support. The services are, and will remain, free for users.
Nature of a donation
A donation is a voluntary transfer of money in support of Nimistu MTÜ's work. Nothing — no goods, service or other consideration — is given to the donor in return. The purpose of a donation is to support the continuation and development of nimistu.ee and related activities.
A donation is not a sales transaction within the meaning of the Law of Obligations Act. Consumer-protection rights, including the 14-day right of withdrawal, do not apply, since no goods or services are provided in return for a donation.
Making a donation
You can donate:
- Via the website, through Swedbank LinkPay or another payment service
- By bank transfer to the account EE13 2200 2210 9540 0384
- Through other channels, with details on the contact page
The minimum amount is set by the specific payment service. There is no maximum.
A donation can be made:
- As an individual — the donor is a natural person
- As a legal person — the donor is a company, non-profit or other legal entity
- Anonymously — where the payment service allows it; in that case the donor cannot claim an income-tax incentive or other benefits
Use of donations
Donations are used to fulfil the purposes set out in Nimistu MTÜ's articles of association, including:
- maintaining nimistu.ee's technical infrastructure (servers, database, payment services, domains)
- integrating data sources and ensuring data quality
- public-interest projects, training and events
- general operating costs in line with the non-profit's articles
A donor cannot unilaterally earmark a donation unless agreed in advance. Nimistu MTÜ's board decides how donations are used, in accordance with the articles and objectives.
Income-tax incentive
Nimistu MTÜ is applying for entry on the Tax Board's list of non-profits eligible for income-tax incentives. Until we are added to the list, a donation to us does not give the donor an income-tax incentive. After entry on the list (the expected date will be shown on the website), donations from Estonian-resident individuals and certain legal persons qualify for an income-tax incentive under the Income Tax Act.
You can check the income-tax-incentive status on the Tax Board website: emta.ee.
Confirmation of a donation
Once a donation is received, the payment service sends the donor a confirmation (where the service supports it and the donor has left contact details). In addition, Nimistu MTÜ may send the donor a thank-you note or other message where the donor has consented.
Donations are recorded in accordance with the Accounting Act. For further information about your donations, ask via the contact form.
Public reporting of donations
Nimistu MTÜ publishes an annual report each year, including aggregate information on donations received and how they were used. The report is published in the business register and is also available on the nimistu.ee website.
Individual donors' names are not shown in public reporting, except where a donor has given explicit consent (for example, major donors who wish to be publicly recognised).
Refunds
The refund policy for donations is set out in a separate document: refund policy.
Data protection
The processing of personal data collected in connection with a donation is described in our privacy policy.
Changes to these terms
Nimistu MTÜ may amend these terms. Changes take effect on publication on the website. The terms in force at the time a donation is made remain applicable to that particular donation.
