What nimistu is

nimistu.ee brings together the Estonian Business Register, the Tax and Customs Board, the sanctions database, the public-procurement register, court rulings, activity licences, politically exposed persons, mandatory audits, the EU transparency register and data from 72+ public sources in total into one structured, source-cited register. Run as a non-profit. Free. Ad-free. Income comes from donations and public-interest grants.

The goal is practical: if you're writing about a company, a procurement, an official or an interest group, you should get the facts you need from one place, verifiably, with no limits, login or subscription. The same goes for research and civil-society analysis.

What we promise you as a journalist

  • →No technical limits on normal use. Open as many tabs at once as you need. Search as much as you need. No session gets cut off for “suspicious behaviour”.
  • →Your ad blocker changes nothing. We have no ads. We have no trackers. There's nothing to block.
  • →No login required. All public content — views, profiles, sources, methodology — is available without an account.
  • →Every claim carries a citation. Date, time, link to the original source. You can always check our work.
  • →The data is current. Business-register changes every 10 minutes. Each source's freshness is public at /en/sources.
  • →Deep access on request. If you need access to a larger slice of the data for an investigation, get in touch via the contact form. We reply within a week.
  • →Corrections are public. If you find an error, tell us. The fix reaches all users at once, on the next data refresh cycle.

How to cite

nimistu is licensed under CC-BY-SA 4.0. Attribute the source and, where possible, link directly to the page the data came from. Recommended citation formats:

Short, inline
“Data: nimistu.ee”
Longer, footnote
“Source: nimistu.ee, [view name], accessed [date], CC-BY-SA 4.0”

For academic work, also include the date of access — the data updates daily. Detailed license info: /en/license.

Boilerplate for newsrooms

Three lengths — pick what fits your context. Factual accuracy matters more than wording, so adapt freely.
