Returns and refunds policy

Effective from 20 May 2026

A donation is voluntary and is generally non-refundable. We do consider refund requests in cases of technical error, duplicate transactions or fraud.

General principle

A donation to Nimistu MTÜ (registry code 80673204) is a voluntary transfer of money for which the donor receives no goods or services in return. For that reason, a donation is generally final and non-refundable.

The 14-day right of withdrawal that applies to distance sales contracts does not apply to donations, because a donation is not a sales transaction.

Exceptions — when a donation can be reclaimed

The following exceptions apply, in which we will consider refund requests:

1. Technical error in the payment. If a donor has given an amount that is clearly mistaken (for example €10,000 instead of €1,000) and notifies us within a reasonable time (generally 30 days), we can issue a refund. The board assesses whether a technical error occurred, taking the circumstances into account.

2. Duplicate transaction. If, due to a technical fault, a donor made the same donation several times (for example a connection error caused the payment to go through more than once), we refund the duplicate transactions on request.

3. Fraud or misuse. If a third party made a donation using the donor's card or account without authorisation, we handle the case once the circumstances are established. In that case we recommend first notifying your bank and, if necessary, the police.

4. Legal obligation. Where applicable law or a court decision requires a refund, we comply with that obligation.

When a refund is not made

A refund is not made in the following cases:

  • the donor has changed their mind — the donation was voluntary and made deliberately
  • the donor dislikes a particular decision, stance or statement by Nimistu MTÜ
  • the donor is dissatisfied with nimistu.ee's services or the content of a particular view
  • the donor considers the amount “too large” after the fact

These are not grounds for a refund. By donating, the donor makes a deliberate, voluntary decision to support Nimistu MTÜ's work in general.

Requesting a refund

You can request a refund via the contact form or by e-mail to info@nimistu.ee. Please include in your request:

  • the date and approximate time of the donation
  • the amount of the donation
  • the payment method (Swedbank LinkPay, bank transfer, etc.)
  • the donor's name and contact details
  • the reason for the refund request

Processing a refund

We respond to refund requests within 14 days. In justified cases the deadline may extend to 30 days — in which case we notify the requester.

Where a refund is justified, it is made to the same payment method used for the donation. Depending on the method, the refund may take up to 7 business days to reach the donor's account.

Resolving disputes

If a donor disagrees with a decision on a refund request, we ask that you first discuss the matter with us via the contact form. Most matters can be resolved through direct contact.

For unresolved disputes, a donor may turn to:

  • the Consumer Protection and Technical Regulatory Authority — though note that a donation is generally not a consumer transaction, so the authority's competence may be limited
  • the courts — under Estonian civil procedure

This policy does not exclude or limit any rights the donor has under law.
