AvaloniaUI OÜ is an Estonian software company and the steward of Avalonia, an MIT-licensed, European-built open-source framework for cross-platform application development. Avalonia enables software to run on Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, Android and the web from a single codebase. Our commercial product, Avalonia XPF, provides a migration path for the large installed base of Windows-only WPF applications, allowing organisations to move existing software to Linux and other platforms without rewriting it. Our goal is to ensure Europe has independent, commercially sustainable application-layer infrastructure. We aim to contribute to EU policy discussions on technological sovereignty, open-source and public-sector digitalisation, advocating for the application layer to be recognised alongside chips, cloud, and operating systems as a critical component of Europe's digital independence, and for funding and procurement frameworks that support European-maintained open source.
