A group here is defined as a VAT group – all legal entities filing VAT returns under one käibemaksukohuslane (VAT-payer number). Data is from the Tax and Customs Board register joined to the Business Register. A group appears in the ranking when it has at least two members.
The group label is the highest-revenue member (flagship) – the same choice as in the Largest VAT groups view so labels stay consistent across the site.
The Holders column shows how many group members actually own at least one trademark. In Estonia today it's typical for all group trademarks to sit in a single member – the separate IPCo-subsidiary pattern is rare. This view becomes more powerful as groups separate brand IP into dedicated legal entities.
An alternative group definition based on beneficial-ownership clustering (≥50% common ownership) is planned as a secondary toggle. It'll arrive once the shareholder-graph rollup step has stabilised.
Limitations: Trademark data is currently sourced only from EUIPO. The Estonian national Patendiamet register isn't ingested yet – it'll arrive as a follow-up and may raise some group counts.
