Töökeskkonna kontrollimise käigus selgus, et ettevõte kuulub kõrgendatud radooniriskiga maa-alade loetellu ning tegutseb ühekordses hoones, millel puudub maa-alune korrus, kuid ettevõte ei ole korraldanud radoonisisalduse mõõtmisi tööruumis. Tööinspektor selgitas tööandjale, et tööandja korraldab õhu radoonisisalduse mõõtmise tööruumis, mis asub kõrgendatud radooniriskiga maa-alal ja paikneb maa all, hoone maa-alusel korrusel, hoone korrusel, mille välissein omab kokkupuudet pinnasega või hoone esimesel korrusel, kui maa-alune korrus puudub. Esmase radoonimõõtmise eesmärk ongi kindlaks teha, kas õhu radoonisisaldus on all või ülalpool viitetaset. Kui tööaja keskmine radoonisisaldus jääb alla viitetaseme, on kõik korras. Siseruumidesse jõuab maapinnast pärinev radoon peamiselt põrandas või vundamendis olevate pragude kaudu ning tulenevalt sellest esineb radooni peamiselt keldrites ja esimestel korrustel. Kuna rõhk hoonetes on madalam kui väljas, siis soodustab see radooni liikumist hoonetesse. Suletud ruumis võib radoonikontsentratsioon tõusta selliseks, mis inimesele pikaajaliselt (aastakümned) mõjudes võib põhjustada kopsuvähki haigestumise.
